HOliday Weekend Plans!

Well, my husband Rich, kids and I will be attending a party/bar-b-que at Peaches house until the evening. Then we will be attending the annual 4th of July concert on the military base. They have a famous band/singer performamce during the evening. This year is happens to be famous country singer, Sammy Kershaw. *rolls eyes* Oh big whoop*
There are the funnest things to do until dark, until the fireworks begin. There are all kind of booths, food booths, games and rides and jumping things for the kids. The year before last they had hot air balloon rides. They had those big air jump things where the kids can go and jump til their legs feel like jello.
Then, at about 9PM they turn out the lights on the field, and they start the BIGGEST fireworks show I have ever seen in my life. They have the bomb squad unit from the army base and the fire fighter unit doing the huge fireworks. These fireworks are so huge and so loud. It sounds like WW3 is breaking out. The fireworks and sounds of the fireworks can be seen and heard for miles and miles. All during the fireworks presentation, they are playing patriotc music. They play songs like "God bless America" by Ray Charles, "Proud to be an American" by Lee Greenwood, they play "America the beautiful" all kind of patriotic songs the whole time the fireworks are going off. Then they have a huge finish. They finish with a "bang" so to speak. They light about 20, 30 fireworks all at the same time. The whole event with the booths, the rides, the games that lasts all day until 9, until the fireworks start. The fireworks show itself lasts about an hour.
I am taking my camera, being I am starting on my pictures and going towards my goal of becoming a photographer. I am practicing. I am going to try and take pictures of my kids sitting together on the ground with the light from the fireworks making their faces visible. I am going to try to take a picture while they are looking up at the sky at the fireworks and see how it comes out. I am also gonna have Peaches take some pictures of us at the bar-b-que. I am going to really try to use my photo skills and see what kind of pictures I can take during this holiday.
That's about the jest of it.
This year there will be a celebration for the troops that are already back. this year the fireworks and events out at the field are honoring our guys in Kuwaite and Baghdad and the guys that are already back. it should be pretty special.

I don't have any plans. It is a couples holiday. I have never been part of a couple that did stuff with other couples really. So, I guess I will go to my moms...for awhile.... and... well I taught myself how to grill so im going to have a <img src=http://www.geocities.com/calif_belle/freegifshol/july4_5.gif> and then go to the fireworks that night. I was invited out... onto ... the lake to watch from the pontoon so that ought to be fun.

Since this is aaron's first holiday here..and they cant have fireworks in AU..we are buying lots of our own and shooting them off in the yard..and grilling out of course..prolly invite my brother and his gal over..will be fun..we might even ride up and see the ones they put on at the lake..i hate to fight that crowd tho.. I am having a cook out on the farm with some of the physically and/or mentally challenged adults I've worked with.

Will have music and water sports and fireworks.

The 4th is one of the very few "holidays" i "do".

To all of those who have helped to make us "FREE"- thank you!

May your higher power bless each and every one of you and may you all have a safe and happy 4th!

i am just someone who has alot to pay back...you are very kind to say those words and i thank you for them.

i have been given a gift to help- in words and deeds and i intend to continue to offer what was given to me and share...i almost lost the ability to share by my own selfishness...

from that i learned a valuable lesson-
"If i can not teach- i shall learn. Then i shall learn how to teach. From that time on- i will make it my goal to be available to share whatever it is i have that someone else needs...and to try to learn from them a better way to be."

*there i go again* Happy 4th (again) to ya'll!!!

p.s.- it both broke my heart and healed it in one bolt when i asked one of the "guests" i had out here- "What are you thankful for this 4th of July?"-
she said-

"I'm thankful for being here and being like I am without someone staring at me- I'm thankful for not dropping my second hotdog-I'm thankful for this land and water."

This was from a beautiful adult who has multiple physical challenges and an IQ of about 70...if i were never humble before...i was/am now.

One of he people who came and helped asked me "How can you afford to do this?"

My quick answer was- "How can i afford NOT to?"
